By now, many of you have likely seen the new TV ads for AT&T featuring a good-looking entrepreneurial philanthropist with a shoe company that gives away a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair they sell.  The ad shows Blake Mycoskie putting shoes on the feet of children around the world as he tells of how he couldn’t do his job without his AT&T phone – more bars in more International locations.

Well, ironically, Amy and I have been discussing ideas with TOMS Shoes of Santa Monica, CA since late last year to put together a program that would benefit the ministry work of Share5 while selling more shoes and putting more shoes on the feet of needy children so he can run up those AT&T minutes!  Well, that program is here, and just in time for you to share it with your friends, leaning on the AT&T ad and helping them make a difference to children around the world!

Here’s the deal –

For every pair of TOMS Shoes sold either through our website, your blog, or your churches website, IN ADDITION to giving a pair of TOMS to a child in need, TOMS will contribute $5 to the Share5 Fund for use in microfinance loans!

Here’s how it works. There are two ways to make sure Share5 gets the $5 contribution for your purchase.

1.    Send people to our website and tell them to click on the TOMS tile ad. It will redirect them to the TOMS site and track our affiliate ID.
2.    When you talk about or share the story of TOMS on your blog or website, link to the TOMS site with the URL: http://www.share5.org/index.php?recommends=3

It contains an affiliate ID# that will track the sales made from that link and credit the $5 contribution to Share5!

That’s it!  It is very simple.

1.    You get a great, comfortable, stylish pair of shoes that will make everybody say “Hey, are those TOMS Shoes?  I’ve seen the commercial!”
2.    A child in need gets a pair of shoes that could actually save their life
3.    Share5 gets $5 per pair sold for use in microfinance lending though our programs!

Over 20 pairs of shoes have already been sold through this program, meaning that $100 is already on its way into the hands of needy third world working poor, and over 20 needy children will have a new pair of TOMS shoes on their feet.  Good work!
